AGLoverx, you should feel good about yourself for being proud of who you are and standing by what makes you happy! Good for you.

My son occasionally plays with our dolls, and my husband gets freaked out and wants to take them away. I never let him! If he wants to play with dolls I think it is natural and really will help to foster his nurturing side. He is a very loving big brother to his sister.

Also, I think my husband's stance is funny since he admittedly likes our dolls, refuses to let me sell any of them, and even has two of his own, and he's 30!!

Don't be ashamed of anything. Curt is a dad who has a fantastic AG collector's website. I bet there's more men/boy AG fans than we know about! It would be nice if more of them were as secure in their manhood as you, and came out to openly enjoy AG with the rest of us!

I think it's totally cool that you're a guy and that you want to play with AG dolls. More power to you!! When I went to AGPLA last weekend, I saw a boy there who seemed to be around eight years old, and he was carrying an AG doll around with him. And I thought that was fine! And I think AG's are less violent than other boy-oriented toys like GI Joes or whatnot. Also, I have a guy friend who used to play with Barbies when he was little, and he actually liked it. And about "growing out" of playing with dolls...dude, I am 22 years old and I just got my bachelor's degree last year. You can never be too old to love a doll! [img]biggrin.gif[/img] [img]graemlins/heart.gif[/img]

I'm so glad you told us the truth! Of course there's anything wrong with a boy having dolls; you may not be old enough, but I clearly remember "My Buddy." Granted, that's a boy, but you COULD get a fixer-upper AG and make it into a boy; that's been done here. [img]biggrin.gif[/img]

My brother played "My Little Ponies" with me when I was younger! And my friend has a great story about her mother going into a unisex toy store trying to find a tea set that wasn't totally girly, and the progressive clerk got very upset and started yelling at her about perpetuating stereotypes and so forth...until the mother informed the clerk that the set was for her SON. It may be unusual, but heck, AG thinks us ladies are unusual too, since many of us are outside the "target age range". If anyone hassles you, just say you're in it for the investment value.

But I say, good for you for doing what you want to do! If you eventually lose interest, that's fine, but I hope you don't feel pressured into "growing out" of your hobby. [img]biggrin.gif[/img]

Not to worry. There are other doll lovers of the male persuasion. Consider for a moment that many, if not most, of the top doll designers are male, e.g., Robert Tonner.

Let's face it, the dolls are cute, everyone needs a hobby to stay sane in today's world, and collecting AGs is a heck of a lot better than some of the other potential "hobbies" one could get into.
